Rare Pair of 19th C. Cantonese Chinese Mother-of-Pearl Shells, large size, extremely finely surface carved. One shell depicts a peaceful town, mountain and lake scene. The other similar, but with the addition of battling soldiers. Each on carved wooden stands depicting Prunus. Minor loss to edge of one shell as shown.Each 13.5 inches tall (inc. stand), approximately 10 inches wide.
