English 17th century Mortuary sword 1640/50
 
Good English Mortuary sword dating from 1640/50. The 82.5 cm blade with Latin inscription "Soll deo Gloria" (Glory to God alone). Chiselled hilt with multiple faces, the hilt also with thumb ring and wire bound fish skin grip. Interesting sword from the English Civil War. Condition - All over pleasing dark patina. Very good original.
